Tommaso is a filmmaker, based on director Abel Ferrara, who has emigrated from the United States to Italy, leaving his family behind and building a new life with a woman and their young child. Adapting to a new life of diminished responsibility, he wrestles with his history of addiction while trying to complete a new screenplay. As the story proceeds, Tommaso's frustrations build to a moment of release that threatens to destroy the comfortable life he has built.
