David Ayer And Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad Certified PG-13

As the prophesy foretold - by Warner Bros. executives, no less - the upcoming Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer has been given a PG-13 certification.

Those who held out on the hopes Suicide Squad would embrace the recent direction of 20th Century Fox's R-rated Deadpool have been left with disappointment, of a PG-13 nature. This was always the goal and not a shocking twist for the supervillain chum movie.

Those looking forward to the film can at least know the MPAA has stipulated it was given a PG-13 stamp for "sequences of violence and action throughout, disturbing behavior, suggestive content and language", so it sounds at least they pushed it as far as they could.

It's unclear whether a more mature R-rated cut of Suicide Squad could see a release by the time it hits Blu-ray. David Ayer directs the film which stars Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Scott Eastwood, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis.

Suicide Squad hits cinema in the US and UK August 5th, 2016.
