The Persistence Announced
A virtual reality stealth horror game on PlayStation 4? The Persistence is coming to PlayStation VR this year aboard a science vessel with, erm, bad science.
The year is 2521 and you wake up to realise some idiot (the ship's computer) went and accidentally mutated a bunch of people. Now you've got to clean up the mess by bringing the ship back into some much needed order. The trouble is you're going to have to sneak about while doing it.
Other than being a real heart-rate thumper in VR, The Persistence also makes use of dastardly 'procedural generation' for the ship layout so there's no set route for success. Each time you die the IRIS on-board computer awakens another character from cryosleep and the ship changes again. Not to worry because you can have real-life friends help you by using their Smart phone or tablet by 'hacking' in-game systems.
Those VR co-op players will be able to affect the ship's computer to control doors, distract others, disable traps and other tech wizardry. It's not like those friends would purposefully lead you into doom just because they happen to get rewarded for your death, or anything.
The Persistence releases exclusively on PlayStation 4 later in 2017.
