Marvel head honco Kevin Feige has confirmed that Spider-Man will appear in the next two Avengers films, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 and the fourth movie in the series, which is due out in 2019.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Feige said the existing deal with Sony for Marvel to use the Spider-Man character runs out after the fourth Avenger movie but added “That's as far as it goes for now," hinting that the MCU could see more of everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

Tom Holland made his debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and can next be seen in this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Sony are currently working on Spider-Man spinoffs themed around Venom and Silver Sable/Black Cat, but Marvel is not a partner for those films. Feige said Marvel has a "very particular plan about Spidey himself when asked why Marvel isn't working with Sony on the spinoffs. He didn't talk about what those plans might be.

Feige also talked about the possibility of Marvel attempting to launch their own R-Rated superhero franchise in the wake of the success of Deadpool and Logan.

“My takeaway from both of those films is not the R rating; it's the risk they took, the chances they took, the creative boundaries that they pushed," Feige said of their success. "That should be the takeaway for everyone."
