The Batman Director Matt Reeves to Start Again From the Beginning

It looks like The Batman director Matt Reeves will start from scratch, abandoning the script by star and former director of the upcoming Batman solo movie, Ben Affleck and DC head honcho Geoff Johns.

In a recent chat on MTV‘s Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Screen Rant), Reeves revealed that he’s going to back to the beginning with The Batman.

“It’s a new story; it’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool,” said Reeves.

Well, he would say that. The interesting thing about this quote is that it seems to imply that there isn’t as strict an overview as the Marvel Cinematic Universe; that Reeves will be allowed to make the character and the story his own.

One thing that might not survive the new draft is Deathstroke, who was previously confirmed by Warner Bros. with Joe Manganiello to play the ace assassin.

We should find out more about the movie as we get closer to Justice League later this year, and perhaps even during Warner Bros.’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con later this month.
