Sony's Spider-Man Movie Spin-Offs will Have Distinct Styles
Sony’s recently announced Spider-Man spin-off movies will have distinctly different styles from one another.
The most high-profile of the two confirmed movies, Venom, which will star Tom Hardy and be directed by Ruben Fleischer, is rumoured to be a John Carpenter style horror film according to IGN.
"I’ve always been drawn to the more antihero superheroes. There’s a dark element to [Venom] and a wit that has always appealed to me," said Fleischer.
The other confirmed film, Silver & Black, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, which follows the escapades of Silver Sable and Black Cat, has been called a buddy film by Prince-Bythewood, who compared the movie to Thelma & Louise and Midnight Run.
"I wanted to tell the story of two damaged women who are at war with each other but need each other to survive," she said.
In other Sony superhero news, Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts is in talks to direct the sequel.
