If you’re a fan of giant monster movies, get ready to stamp all over your plans as Warner Bros. have broken out theerasers and changed several release dates on their monster movie calendar.

The studio has announced a new release date
for Godzilla 2, delaying Gareth Edwards’ sequel from 2018 to 2019, and has set
Godzilla vs. King Kong for 2020. But it isn’t just the monsters that are
getting moved, an untitled “event film” has been dropped into Christmas 2018
and one of the studio’s untitled DC superhero movies has been shuffled by a
month.

Godzilla 2 as it probably won’t end upbeing called has shifted out of the usually crowded summer months, June 8,
2018, to its brand new, probably smashed to bits by giant monster feet home of March
22, 2019.

That puts just a fourteen-month gap betweenit and Godzilla vs. King Kong, which is now set to stomp into theatre on May29, 2020.

So what’s the grand takeaway from all thismonster shuffling? Well it seems Warners and Legendary pictures are getting
serious about carving out a Godzilla sized monster movie universe what with the
two previously mentioned monster and Kong: Skull Island, which is due for
release March 10, 2017, laying much of the ground work for future films.

Godzilla 2 director Gareth Edwards is
currently busy laying the ground work for another franchise, namely Rogue One:
A Star Wars Story.

Then there’s the other news which is…well,
vague. Warner Bros. has officially scheduled something for Dec. 25, 2018, which
is reserved for big tentpole movies but what that maybe is anyone’s guess right
now.

The other big move involves one of those unnamed DC superhero movies, which has moved from June 19, 2020 to July 24, 2020 – suggesting that it may bea sequel to an as yet unseen movie featuring members of the Justice League.
