Production is well underway on Bryan Singer’s Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and the director has now shared a new image of Mr. Robot star Rami Malek in action as frontman Freddie Mercury.

The movie, which will co-star Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as Brian May, and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon along with the likes of Allen Leech, Tom Hollander, Lucy Boynton, Aaron McCusker and Mike Myers also set to appear, will follow the life of the band up until their now legendary appearance at Live Aid in 1985.

Previously, Malek has talked about the process for mimicking Mercury’s legendary vocals, which will be combined of three different techniques: Recordings of Mercury himself are to be used, Malek’s own singing voice, and a soundalike will be used to bridge any gaps.

Speaking to the EW, Malek said: “We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible. I’m in Abbey Road [Studios] right now if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting".

Bohemian Rhapsody opens in cinemas on Christmas Day 2018.
