Ron Howard Revels New Character for Star Wars Han Solo Spin-Off
Despite saying that the old extended universe had been confined to the trash compactor, the extended universe has been resurrected…sort of.
It was never going to be a case of wiping out all of Star Wars extended universe characters, planets, ships et al, so it comes as no surprise that, with fans now making Star Wars movies, a few references might creep in.
Cut to the set of the Han Solo movie, where Ron Howard has confirmed the presence of two fan favourite characters. Yes, that's Tag and Bink, characters created by Kevin Rubio for the Star Wars comics published by Dark Horse. The pair acts as a sort of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the galaxy far, far away, commenting on events and occasionally, accidentally influencing them.
The duo will be played by the film's co-writer Jon Kasdan and first assistant director Toby Hefferman: "I’m a huge fan and I had to get ’em in there, and then had to play it myself (with Toby Hefferman) to do it justice," Kasdan said in a Tweet to Rubio after the writer learned of the news.
Co-starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It'll be out on 25 May next year.
