Even though development has been slow-going, we now know just who will be playing the title character in the DCEU’s Shazam!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chuck’s Zachary Levi has boarded the movie to play Captain Marvel. The movie, like its comic book counterpart, will focus on teenager Billy Batson, who can become the hero by saying the word, “Shazam!” which grants him the powers of six mythological gods. Joining Levi will be Dwayne Johnson who is playing the character's nemesis, Black Adam – who already has been spun off into his own movie which is being worked on concurrently.
Behind the camera, Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg is making the movie, which is scheduled to be the next DCEU entry to see cameras, once he finds the rest of the cast including Billy.
Levi has already entered one comic book universe, he’s appeared in two of Marvel’s Thor movies as Fandral.
