Channel 4 is working on creating a new publishing arm situated in Glasgow, Scotland to "build a new network of both Channel 4 funded mobile games and games from third party developers."

At the head of this operation is current Channel 4 Games Commissioning Editor Colin Macdonald who joined the company in 2011. Previously, Macdonald was the co-founder of 'Realtime Worlds', the development studio which produced the original 'Crackdown' and 'APB: All Points Bulletin' before it closed down in 2010.

Speaking on the launch, Macdonald himself said "Channel 4 is renowned for working with growing creative companies and I’m delighted that we’re able to throw even more of its weight behind the games industry. With over 1.5m apps for users to choose from now, discoverability has become the biggest problem facing mobile game developers so it’s exciting to be able to do even more to support them and promote their amazing work to a wider audience.”

Channel 4 claims further details are on the way in due course.
