Masterminds Trailer: Zac Galifianakis Plots the Perfect Heist
Masterminding a plot of its own, the first trailer for Masterminds – the action comedy starring Zac Galifianakis (The Hangover) – hit Comedy Central’s Youtube page.
Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), Masterminds is based on the true story of the 1997 Loomis Fargo heist. Galifianakis’ security van guard David Ghantt makes off with $17 million - the largest cash robbery in the U.S. at the time.
Now his challenge is trying to get away with it — and that's easier said than done once you see his motley crew of associates including Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Owen Wilson (Midnight in Paris), and Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses).
While not a particular stretch for Galifianakis – a gifted, physical comedian, he has the blubbering man-child routine down to hilarious tee – the film looks promising, with some great chemistry between himself his stellar co-stars. In particular Sudeikis, who looks to be having a hoot playing a moustachioed hitman.
Directed by Hess and co-starring Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson and Ken Marino, Masterminds will open in the UK and US on 7 August 2015.
