The Raid's Gareth Evans In Talks to Direct Deathstroke Movie
The Raid director Gareth Evans is in talks to write and direct a standalone Deathstroke movie.
The Wrap (via IGN) has reported that Evans is in early talks to write and direct the film, which would star Joe Manganiello as the DC Comics assassin. Warner Bros. and DC executives were suitably impressed with the director’s pitch.
Deathstroke was original supposed to appear in Ben Affleck's The Batman film. However, after Affleck stepped down as director and War for the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Matt Reeves took over the project, Reeves reportedly shelved Affleck's script.
At the moment, it’s unknown whether Manganiello will appear in Reeves movie, which he has promised will focus on Batman’s detective skills in an ‘emotional’ storyline.
As for the standalone Deathstroke movie, talks are in an early stage.
