Amber Heard to Play Aquaman Love Interest Mera
Getting ready to plumb DC/Warner Bros cinematic depths, Amber Heard is rumoured to be in talks to play Mera, a comic book love interest of Aquaman and the future queen of Atlantis.
If she decides to dive in, she’ll appear alongside Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in Zack Snyder's planned first of two Justice League films alongside the likes of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot. Then, she’ll reunite with her underwater hubby in Aquaman’s eponymous stand-alone movie, which is being developed – or to use Tinseltown speak is under ‘duel track development’ which means two scripts, one by David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) and one by Kurt Johnstad (300), are being worked on at the same time - by director James Wan (The Conjuring) for a mid-2018 release.
Mera, first appeared in 1963; the character’s powers include the ability to control and even solidify water.
