As promised by 343 Industries, Halo 3: ODST has been made available this month to compensate Xbox One users that played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between November 11 and December 19 of last year.

This new remaster of the game will contain the single-player campaign only and excludes the addition of the Firefight mode to players. It will be running at 1080p and 60 frames per second. Players eligible for a free copy can start playing today after redeeming a code sent to them via Xbox Live.

According to Halo Waypoint, "all distributed codes will disappear from in-console messages after June 30, 2015, but will still be redeemable." After that, users can contact the support forum for further assistance.

Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries has stated that this is a thank you to fans for their support during the Master Chief Collection's troubled launch. Ross released a statement saying, "this has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can – and need – to do better for Xbox fans around the world. We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues."

Those who won't be getting the free code will "soon" be able to purchase ODST from the Xbox Store for $4.99. A new 2.4 GB update for the Master Chief Collection is also available to download now that includes the re-imagined version of Halo 2's multiplayer map Relic.
