Jamie Dornan in Talks to Join Robin Hood: Origins
Fifty Shades Darker star Jamie Dornan is in final negotiations to join the cast of Robin Hood: Origins.
Telling the story of how Robin got his tights, Taron Egerton is on board as Robin Hood, with Jamie Foxx as Little John while Eve Hewson will be playing Maid Marian in the retelling that is being directed by Peaky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst.
Dornan is in talks to play Will Scarlett, the elegantly dressed, hot headed expert swordsman (so kind of like Christian Grey?), who joins Robins’ band of merry men.
However, in this version, Scarlett will be Marian’s husband, who will be none too happy when he learns that she loves that dashing young Robin. Robin Hood: Origins – described as a ‘gritty origin story in the vein of The Dark Knight’ – has been delayed by the next instalment of the Kingsman franchise, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, going before cameras first.
The story sees Robin Hood return home from the Crusades only to find his beloved Sherwood Forest has become a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Putting together a band of outlaws known as the merry men, Robin starts to take back the forest from the rotten Sheriff of Nottingham.
Robin Hood: Origins is due to begin filming in Budapest in January with a release date of June 16, 2017.
