Feature Length Downton Abbey May Happen
Fans of Downton Abbey can console themselves with this glimmer of hope: when the show ends after its sixth season a feature film may happen.
Nothing is confirmed at this time, however Gareth Neame, an executive producer for the show, gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter outlining the potential for a movie. He stated that no plans were in place at the moment, but the idea was being discussed.
Neame also made it clear that should a film happen it would be a standalone work not tied to the storyline of the series. He said it could take place before, during, or after the series or possibly all three. However, he stated that any character who left the show would be unlikely to return should the film happen.
Downton Abbey season 6 will be broadcast on PBS in America and ITV in the UK. No air date has been given yet, however signs suggest September as a likely start date.
