Hellboy Reboot Casts Deadpool Villain Ed Skrein
Deadpool villain Ed Skrein has reportedly joined the Hellboy reboot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Skrein will play Major Ben Daimio, a military member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. The character can turn into a jaguar when he gets angry or is in pain because of a prior supernatural incident. Controversially, Daimio is an Asian character, which has led some to call the production out for whitewashing – something that with the recent adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, Hollywood still has a problem with.
Skrein played main villain Ajax in Deadpool and he also starred as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones before being replaced by Michiel Huisman. Skrein joins a cast that includes David Harbour (Hellboy) and Ian McShane (Professor Broom). Resident Evil's Milla Jovovich recently joined the reboot as the villain the Blood Queen.
The film is directed by Neil Marshall and is due to begin filming in September.
