Oculus Touch Wireless Controllers Advertised At £190 In UK, Still Without Release Window

While the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is finally available on the high street in the UK and across Europe, the fancy Oculus Touch wireless controllers are still M.I.A.

What's not missing though appears to be the cost of the buggers. If you want to get a pair of these controllers, which are said to feature a variety of different input methods like 'hand presence' and 'communicative gestures', then it'll cost ya.

According to pre-order marketing propaganda from UK retailer GAME they have an RRP of £189.99, spotted  Engadget's Nick Summers. That's likely to sting considering there was already push back when Oculus Rift was revealed at costing £550.

Should this prove to be the finalised pricing in the UK, then nabbing the Oculus Touch controllers and an Oculus Rift will net you a VR bill of around £740. Rival virtual reality gladiator - HTC Vive - is already at the higher price point of £759 and comes with the headset and its own wireless controllers.

Packaged together (headset and controllers) the market war between Oculus Rift and HTC Vive really will come down to their technical and software differences, and not just price.

Currently there is no release date for the Oculus Touch, however the Oculus Connect event is being held October 5 - 7, 2016 in San Jose, California for VR developers and will hopefully announce a date and price for the controllers.
