Frontier's Planet Coaster Dev Diary Looks At 'Living And Vibrant Crowd'

The spiritual successor Planet Coaster is with original Rollercoaster Tycoon developer Frontier and they've released a dev diary explaining their radical new approach to the individual visitors to our parks, and how they react and behave in crowds.

We're going to be witnessing never-before-seen behaviours as the studio works hard to get the people simulating how real crowds of people work in similar environments. They can also 'bunch up' and move around in groups such as a family, and they don't 'move through each other' breaking the illusion.

Frontier want 'thousands of people' rendered in our parks and they'll use them to make us investigate if something is amiss in the park somewhere. The AI of the crowd 'picks lanes' when things get, erm, crowded. Check out the dev diary below for more.

Planet Coaster releases on PC in late 2016.
