Blizzard Hiring For New "Unannounced" First-Person Project
Software engineers are being sought after by Blizzard Entertainment for work on a "robust first-person engine for an unannounced project" that's in the works.
This is raising some eyebrows as the studio apparently has a fresh first-person something they're working on, though it's unclear whether this is for a new IP or an existing franchise. The money is on an expansion of sorts for Overwatch right now, which is built on an in-house engine.
"Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an experienced tools engineer to work on an unannounced project that utilizes a robust first-person engine. The ideal applicant has demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers to success, has a vision for how tools should be built, and has an unwavering passion for developing content creation tools."
Currently it's thought Blizzard are working either on a new major expansion for Diablo III or is gearing up for a full sequel. This is a big departure from how long it took to jump from Diablo II to III, if so. If this new first-person project is Overtwatch related it could be for a campaign. The team-based shooter launched in May 2016 and enjoys a healthy community. Currently the backstory to Overwatch is spread across animated shorts.
