Sylvester Stallone Is Writing Creed II
Sylvester Stallone is reportedly writing Creed 2 with an eye on beginning production in 2018.
The continuation/spin-off from the Rocky universe, Creed saw Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed taken under the wing of an aging Rocky Balboa. Director by Ryan Coogler, the 2015 movie earn rave reviews and a sequel has been hinted at by Stallone for some time.
Now, it seems he’s ready to climb back in the ring with Deadline is reporting that Stallone will star and also write Creed 2 for MGM, which is looking to film in 2018 for either a late 2018 or 2019 release date.
Stallone has hinted in the past that the Creed II story will mirror Rocky IV, with Adonis Creed taking on the younger son of Ivan Drago, Dolph Lundren’s Russian boxing titan who killed Creed’s father in the ring.
As for who will helm the bout, Coogler might be too busy working away on Black Panther for the Marvel Cinematic Universe – so it could very well be Stallone who decides to step behind the camera as he did for much of the Rocky franchise.
