Indiana Jones creator Steven Spielberg is very busy adapting the sci-fi novel of the same name - Ready Player One - for the big screen, and it'll be featuring some of his own iconic 1980's film nostalgia.

Indiana Jones, The Goonies, and Back to the Future are definitely getting mentions somewhere but the director is conscious of "not making this movie to remind people of my ‘80s movies." He even threatens that "I may leave most of them out!”

As for the Ready Player One book that the film is based on, Spielberg calls it a "crystal ball into exactly what is going to be happening not in 30 or 40 years, but in between five and ten years from now, where a virtual world becomes almost like a drug of choice and where we are spending more time in a nonorganic space than we are breathing and eating and interacting in real life".

“This movie is going to show why it’s interesting not living in the real world but what we’re missing by not,” Spielberg adds. “It’s a cautionary tale but it’s also a big rockin’ adventure movie, too.”

Ready Player One will be hitting the start button in cinemas December 15th, 2017.
