Sylvester Stallone Back Behind Bars for Escape Plan 2
Yes, here it is! That Escape Plan sequel you’ve been waiting for as Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that, having escaped once, he’ll be…re-escaping in a follow-up to the 2013 thriller.
It’s a strange one, given that it only took $25 million at the US box office and was spoken of in less than complimentary terms by critics, but, thanks to its better showing overseas, particularly in China, Sylvester Stallone is being brought back to take more of a supporting role in a sequel.
In the original, Stallone played prisoner designer Ray Breslin, who is doubled-crossed and locked up in one of his own slammers. With the help of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Rottmayer he manages to slip the net with no small number of explosions, quips and machismo.
Quite what the sequel will be about is anyone’s guess at this stage; will it involve a new cast breaking out of a maximum-security prison with the aid of designer Breslin’s know-how or will he be called upon to keep someone in one of his own constructions?
The story has yet to be revealed, but the first film's writer Miles Chapman is back and shooting is already scheduled for March in Ohio and China, but there's no word on a director yet.
