There are many famous infernos: Dante’s Inferno, Disco inferno, and now there’s Ron Howard’s Inferno or to come over all Godfather, Dan Brown’s Inferno – the next instalment in the Howard’s and Brian Grazer’s continued adaptations of the literary adventures of Robert Langdon.

This time out there’s an apocalyptic feel to events as Tom Hanks’ symbologist Langdon finds himself in Italy, grappling with amnesia and a chilling puzzle revolving around Dante’s Inferno. He’ll face a new and cunning adversary and an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. And he’ll need the help of doctor Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), who aids him in recovering his memories even as they head out on his latest quest.

However, there’s not only a mad genius with plans to wipe out half of the population of the world with a virus, the government are also interested in the pathogen, placing Langdon in a tense, precarious position.

Are the stakes high? You bet! Are they comically high? Well, have you seen The Da Vinci Code?

With Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy and Sidse Babett Knudsen will also be flashing their concerned faces at the screen and speaking largely in exposition, when Inferno hits the screen on October 14th in the UK.
