James Cameron, when he's not exploring the crushing depths of the ocean and raising the bar, is busy making gigantic movie franchises and Avatar is to be his biggest yet.

The acclaimed movie director who has given the world cinematic gold like the original Terminator and Titannic, will be expanding his latest hit Avatar by an additional four projects - not three. It seems he's not done telling us about the Na'vi.

"We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic project, making four epic films, each of which stands alone but together forms a complete saga,"James Cameron said.

The first of these new instalments in the Avatar saga is set for 2018, with follow-ups in late 2020, 2022 and 2023. “So far, what I am seeing in pure imagination is far beyond the first film,” he continued. The few who have seen his concepts of the new Avatar movie were left "speechless", and we certainty hope that was in a good way.

“Trust me, these are films that were designed to be seen in theaters and on the big screen first.” Cameron has no desire to see his Avatar saga doing straight to TV or the bargain bin. “The next time I see you will be on Pandora,” he teased fans.

Avatar 2 will be coming out in late 2018 following a delay. As of now the Avatar blockbuster is worth over $2.788 billion and has achieved the highest box office of all time.
