Here's What We're Looking Forward to from Xbox this October

September is drawing to a close which means for some in the UK, it's time to return to school or university after a long break. While it might be heartbreaking to see the Summer disappearing before your very eyes, Microsoft has a handful of goodies coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 to keep you occupied off-timetable.

Here's next month's top releases:

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 [XONE/X360] - October 2nd/November 10

Returning to the arcade style of its predecessors, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 brings combo-driven skateboarding to the current generation with an advanced multiplayer experience and state-of-the-art skatepark builder.

Metal Gear Online [XONE/X360] - October 6

MGO returns in its third instalment after the second edition's multiplayer servers were shut down in 2012. Bringing Metal Gear Solid's combination of tactical action and silliness, expect to undertake various modes in ridiculous hats.

Transformers: Devastation [XONE/X360] - October 6

Megatron is up to no good and it's up to the Autobots to put a stop to him. This time, however, they're equipped with PlatinumGames' unique blend of character action offering instant robot-to-vehicle combat, counterattack manoeuvres, and infinite combos in five difficulty options.

Rock Band 4 [XONE] - October 6

The award-winning social and interactive music experience returns this year promising to deliver the ultimate platform for gamers to experience music. Form your own band, rock out to 2000+ tracks spanning all genres of rock, and live out the ultimate rock and roll fantasy. Elite: Dangerous [XONE] - October 6

Experience the full galactic proportions of the cutthroat Milky Way and take control of your own starship in Elite: Dangerous featuring 400 billion star systems, infinite freedom, and a handcrafted evolving narrative.

Overlord: Fellowship of Evil [XONE] - October 20

Take on the role of the villain in the third instalment of Codemasters' action-RPG Overlord series. filled to the brim with black humour and a script written by Rhianna Pratchett (previously Tomb Raider, Heavenly Sword, Mirror's Edge).

Guitar Hero Live [XONE/X360] - October 23

FreeStyleGames reinvents the Guitar Hero franchise for Guitar Hero Live with a pair of innovative modes and a brand-new controller. You take the stage, first-person perspective, in front of a roaring crowd who will react to your shredding, let's just hope you have some rhythm!

Halo 5: Guardians [XONE] - October 27

Continuing the story of Master Chief, Halo 5 will show the legendary hero at his most vulnerable after the events of Halo 4. Utilising a new progressive resolution system, Halo 5: Guardians should run at a continuous 60 frames per second.

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations [XONE/X360] - October 30

Taking place around the middle of Adventure Time's sixth season, Finn and Jake must explore the Land of Ooo, talk to the residents, defeat the bad guys, solve puzzles and "just have fun". Developed by Vicious Cycle Software (previously Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond, Dead Head Fred, and Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon), the duo decide to become detectives like Jake's parents after discovering an assignment printing machine.
