How Much Of Solo: A Star Wars Story Did Ron Howard Reshoot?

How much of Solo: A Star Wars Story did Ron Howard reshoot and how much did it cost?

Answering both those questions in one blaster shot, sources who spoke to Star Wars News Net‘s The Resistance Broadcast (via Screen Rant), said that Howard reshot “nearly all” of Solo, for possibly “twice the budget.”

That’s a bit of a shock. Estimates that at least 80% of the movie have been given the Howard sheen, is a surprise considering there were allegedly only a few weeks left of principal photography when original directors Lord and Miller were dismissed – and the footage which was said to be ‘very usable’ at the time will now be left hanging in Jaba’s palace for all time.

The one good thing to come out of all of this is that now perhaps Solo won’t feel like a Frankenstein’s monster of a movie. It’ll have a consistent tone and, for better or worse, will bear all the trademarks of a Ron Howard movie in the Star Wars universe – a traditional film that probably needed the less classical approach of Lord and Miller but alas that’s no longer the case.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will arrive in cinemas on May 25, 2018.
