Warcraft Extended Cut is 40 Minutes Longer But Will We See It?
At the moment, Duncan Jones's Warcraft: The Beginning clocks in at around two hours long but the director has revealed that the original cut of the film was 40 minutes longer.
Unfortunately, we might not see this extended cut if the theatrical release flops. Jones stated, ""There will be no extended cut unless the theatrical does well. That is just the way of things."
In other 'cut' content from the movie, the film originally featured a "troll raid" scene. According to Jones, it "Was too expensive to do, and not directly enough related to the main plot, so scratched early on."
Critically, the film isn't exactly doing well. On Rotten Tomatoes, Warcraft has garnered a rating of 18% freshness while, on Metacritic, it's got a score of 36. Critics have described the film as "noisy, lumbering and not terribly bright", bringing "to mind those animated advertisements for iPhone app games", and "Imagine Battlefield Earth without the verve, or the unintentional comedy".
