James Gunn To Bring New Starsky & Hutch to the Small Screen

Despite receiving something of a second life thanks to the 2004 movie adaptation of flares and bonnet sliding-a-thon Starsky & Hutch never really took off, however, that isn’t going to stop Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn from attempting to bring the duo back to their spiritual home on the small screen.

Originally created in 1975 as a movie of the week by William Blinn and produced by Aaron Spelling, the show found David Soul as detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson and Paul Michael Glaser as detective David Starsky. It became a hit, and ran for nearly 100 episodes across four seasons.

Now Gunn, along with his brother Brian Gunn and cousin Mark Gunn, is penning a script for producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films company with Sony Pictures Television Studios offering the show around networks and other outlets. It’s hoped that Gunn will direct the first episode, provided his Guardians Vol. 3 and other Marvel duties don’t get in the way first.
