Microsoft has been known to pull out some interesting reveals during their previous conferences and this year is no exception. If you missed the show, here's what you need to know;

  • The conference began with footage from Halo 5: Guardians and also took the time to show off some multiplayer in which Spartans must battle against everything in their way as story and multiplayer collides.
  • Following Halo 5: Guardians, a new first-party title was revealed from Keiji Inafune via a CG trailer. The game seems to follow a young woman and robotic companions and is titled Recore.
  • Microsoft also announced Xbox One backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games with hopes to build the largest catalogue on a console. 100 titles will be available by this holiday season with retail discs working but, those games that you've already purchased digitally will also be available soon. You will not be charged for games you already own.

  • The Xbox Elite wireless controller is coming and it looks cool; a sleek new design with precision control, hair trigger locks and swappable components. The controller offers limitless customisation options and is designed for Xbox One and Windows 10.
  • Todd Howard appeared on stage to talk more about Fallout 4 on Xbox One, showing off new and extended footage which featured a new weapon known as the Laser Musket; a long-range, cranking weapon. In a surprise turn of events, Xbox One will be equipped with user mods built for PC, all for free.
  • Peter Moore of EA stepped out onto the stage to announce that players with EA Access will be able to play Need for Speed and Madden 2k16 much earlier than the average consumer. Titanfall will be joining the EA Access Vault this week along with Dragon Age: Inquisition. For this week only, Xbox LIVE Gold members will have access to the EA Access Vault for free.
  • Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 has also been confirmed.

  • A brief recollection of the Ford company reminds you of its great history as the Ford GT Supercar is lowered onto stage. Henry Ford III himself joins the car along with Dan Greenawalt to reveal gameplay footage of Forza Motorsport 6 in all it's 1080p beauty; 26 locations, 450 cars with 24 car multiplayer modes, all running at 60 frames per second. It will be available September 15.
  • Another world premiere announcement followed and, as Bandai Namco and FromSoftware's names popped onto the screen we knew that Dark Souls 3 was about to be revealed. In the CG trailer, a faceless, burning king arises and roars as the game is revealed for early 2016.
  • Ubisoft revealed more footage of Tom Clancy's The Division; society has collapsed and The Division has been brought into the battle as a last resort. Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft, popped onto stage to reveal that Xbox One players will receive access to a beta this December.
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege was also mentioned as Detoc praised the game's destructible environment before revealing that free copies of Rainbow Six: Vegas and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will be given for free with Siege, thanks to the newly announced backwards compatibility.
  • Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusive Gigantic will have you meeting your Guardian and choosing your Hero to do battle in a beta coming soon!
  • Next came the ID@Xbox showcase!

  • Crystal Dynamics demoed Rise of the Tomb Raider beginning with Lara moving slowly through a cave, just as the previous game did. Lara is close to uncovering the existence of a forgotten city as they climb a frost-bitten mountain. Of course, something always gets in the way and an avalanche causes Lara and her partner to separate. The game will be available on the 10th of November.
  • When Rare finally appeared, they brought with them all the memories they were responsible for in the form of a new collection: Rare Replay. It comes with 30 of Rare's classic games including Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie. You'll be able to start collecting the 10,000 available Gamerscore this August 4th.
  • Rare also revealed a new exclusive title named Sea of Thieves, a pirate themed shared-world adventure game. It will bring players together across the high seas as shown in the gameplay footage, captured in real-time, which gave us a great look at the game's colourful graphical style.
  • Fable Legends was shown off for a short while, claiming that the heroes were simply intruders in a land that does not want them. The game will be free to play on Xbox One and Windows 10 this Holiday season with cross-platform features.
  • Microsoft announced a new partnership with Valve VR to go along with their Oculus partnership, hoping to make Windows 10 the best possible platform for VR gaming. As we already know, the Oculus will come packaged with an Xbox One controller and you will be able to play Xbox One games on the device.

  • Microsoft also decided to show off their Hololens technology implemented with Minecraft with the help of Lydia Winters, brand director at Mojang. They believe the technology will change the face of gaming and, if what we saw was legitimate, it will: the holograph allows you to play the game where you want giving different perspectives. For example, the demo switched between a window view on the wall and a 'world view' on a table where the player can manipulate the world with their hands and voice.
  • To end the show, Gears of War co-creator Rod Fergusson took to the stage to reveal Gears of War: Ultimate Edition coming this August 25. The title has been fully rebuilt in 1080p and filled with new content; a public beta will begin today and end in a week's time.
  • Following that, Fergusson began showing off a new Gears of War title through a gameplay video. Two marines hunted something through a dimly lit village before being chased into a fortress by a wind flare. Once battle commenced, Gears 4 was officially announced for a holiday 2016 release.
