Psychonauts 2 Update From Tim Schafer Looks At Art, Revisits Summer Camp

The $3.8 million funded Psychonauts 2 is well underway at Double Fine and Tim Schafer has just released a fresh development update to backers with some art and animation.

A familiar location features in this 9 minute long update for anyone who has played the original Psychonauts. The camp site from the first game has been recreated to some degree to help the dev team figure out new techniques.

Sadly the summer camp is unlikely to make it into the sequel as Tim Schafer would prefer not to revisit it, but that could change even if just as an Easter Egg.

"Tim and Zak sit down to play through the Psychonauts 2 art test, a conceptual exercise done to help the team understand how a modern Psychonauts game might look."

Aside from some gorgeous looking visual flair at this early stage in production, we're also treated to the work being done on character animations for exploration and platforming but also the new moves we'll have for combat.

Psychonauts 2 had a successful Fig campaign early this year to the tune of $3.8 million, clearing their actual goal of $3.3 million and gathered over 24k backers.

Speaking of Fig campaigns - Brian Fargo's Wasteland 3 from inXile Entertainment has just started their month-long beg-athon and is less than $100k away from reaching their goal of $2.75 million with over 27 days left. Check out the Wasteland 3 Fig campaign.
