New Blade Runner 2049 Trailer Online

The new Blade Runner 2049 trailer is here and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Shining a light on some as yet unseen characters as well as hinting that all is not what it seems with K (Ryan Gosling), the trailer is a real showcase for the sterling work of cinematographer Roger Denkins, with burnt sienna vistas, rain-soaked streets and smog-filled highways (love that Atari logo), very much the toast of the trailer.

Set 30 years after the original, 2049 follows LAPD Blade Runner K (Ryan Gosling) discovering a long-buried secret that launches him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former member of the team who has been missing for the past three decades.

Speaking during a Facebook Live Q & A to launch the trailer, director Denis Villeneuve said: “We are still exploring the themes of memories and empathy, that's still in the deeper tissue of what the movie is about and the relationship to what it means to be human.”

You can see the full Q&A with Ford, Gosling and Villeneuve here.

With Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto and Sylvia Hoeks also in the cast, Blade Runner 2049 is out on 6 October.
