Metal Gear Survive Release Date Announced February 2018

The Metal Gear Survive spin-off from the main series by Konami has been given a February 2018 date with North America coming days earlier than Europe.

This is a significant break from the usual stealth action espionage expected from the Metal Gear franchise, much in the same way Metal Gear Rising departed and went for over-the-top action combos with the heavily cybernetic Raiden.

Metal Gear Survive splinters off from Metal Gear Solid V where part of the besieged Mother Base gets sucked into a wormhole absorbing the offshore facility including the remaining  Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers.

The MSF survivors find themselves trapped in some hellish alternate reality plagued by crystalline zombie-like monsters they call 'creatures'. They must find enough resources to hopefully make it back to their own world.

It's an open world environment and supports up to four players who can play cooperatively, or you can go solo with the AI assuming the role of other teammates to which you give orders. Fans of Metal Gear have been quite vocal against Metal Gear Survive for its 'bland' appeal over its use of zombies and multiplayer.

Metal Gear Survive releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 February 20th, 2018 in the US, February 22nd in Europe.
