Star Trek: Discovery Trailer Hints at Civil War With Klingons
Fresh from SDCC, the first full trailer for Star Trek: Discovery hints at a civil war between our boldly going heroes and the Klingons.
Finding herself in the middle of the conflict, Starfleet Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), the first officer aboard the USS Shenzhou, is accused by Jason Isaacs’ Captain Gabriel Lorca of starting the conflict with the assertive Klingons.
During the Star Trek panel, Isaacs revealed that, compared to the Captains that have come before him, Lorca is ‘probably more f*cked up than any of them. He’s a complicated guy for a complicated age. He’s a guy who’s born out of war and gives him a lot of sharp edges.’
It was also revealed that actor Wilson Cruz (My So Called Life) had been cast as a Starfleet officer who’s in a relationship with Anthony Rapp’s Lt. Stamets.
As the series’ first openly gay characters, Rapp said: “I promise you we passionately believe in what we’re doing and we’ll honour what’s come before.”
Star Trek: Discovery debuts on CBS on September 24th.
