First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water
Bearing all the hallmarks of his usual beautiful and emotional filmmaking Guillermo del Toro has unveiled the first trailer for The Shape of Water.
The film is set against the backdrop of the paranoid 1960s, where, in the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely and mute Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment, a creature of the water (played by del Toro regular Doug Jones).
However, when she forms a bond with the creature, she invokes the suspicion and fear of her bosses, including the likes of Michael Shannon and Richard Jenkins – with only Michael Stuhlbarg's scientist there to offer a sympathetic ear.
You can dive into The Shape of Water in US cinemas on 8 December.
