After dancing away with several Oscars for his last film, La La Land director Damien Chazelle is already planning to reunite with that film's star Ryan Gosling for Neil Armstrong biopic First Man – and now he’s building a stellar cast around his lead.

Kyle Chandler and Corey Stoll have both signed on to play Deke Slayton, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, while Stoll has landed the part of Buzz Aldrin, best know as the second man on the moon.

The movie, written by Spotlight co-writer Josh Singer who is adapting James Hansen's book First Man: The Life Of Neil Armstrong, will focus on the first man on the moon, chronicling his time as a Navy bomber flyer and then test pilot, where he pushed planes to the limit and beyond. Then, in the 1960s, he was recruited to work for NASA, rising up the ranks and ending up leading 1969’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

First Man looks set to land in cinemas on the 12th October, 2018 in the US.
