Spider-Man Has 5-Movie Arc In MCU

Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige revealed that Spider-Man’s story, which begins with Sony’s well-received Spider-Man: Homecoming, will span five movies in the MCU.

The plan is for your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man to appear in Marvel’s massive Avengers crossover movies and his own stand-alone films.

Speaking to the Toronto Sun Feige discussed the future for Spider-Man in the MCU, revealing how Peter’s journey will progress throughout various instalments:

“We are looking at a five-movie storyline — Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 — or whatever we end up calling it — as an amazing five-story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019 and then two months later it will be Peter and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there.”

It sounds very much like Phase One for Spider-Man, where his teenage enthusiasm for webbing bad guys will give way to a hardened world view after the cataclysmic events of the Infinity War – where it’s rumoured we’ll be saying goodbye to a few of our favourite good guys. The aftermath of which will be dealt with in the sequel to Homecoming. Although that might not be the last time we see Spider-Man in the MCU…

One movie series that he won't be appearing in is the Venom saga, which will see Tom Hardy take on the role of Eddie Brock, the photographer infected by the alien symbiote known as Venom.

"No, what [Sony] is doing is completely separate,” said Feige.

You can catch Spider-Man: Homecoming swinging into cinemas on 7th July 2017.
