A post on the official Terraria forums has confirmed that 505 Games and Re-Logic are bringing the sandbox hit to both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS early next year.

After introducing a 505 Games representative, a handful of questions about the title were answered including revealing a lack of 3DS Download Play. The Wii U edition will support Miiverse but without voice chat for the time being.

As for Multiplayer modes, the 3DS "is four player ad hoc" while the Wii U will feature the same as previous iterations. One additional touch is the ability to split displays on Wii U giving player 1 the Gamepad screen and player two the television screen.

Given that both systems offer dual-screen capabilities, the game will play much like the PC versions. The secondary screen will be used for "inventory and accessory management, housing management, map usage, and anything else the team can think of that would make use of it. There's so much potential and so many opportunities to make this the most unique yet familiar version of the game."

The launch will take place within the first quarter of 2016.
